What if intelligence is more than we've been building?

Computational systems are remarkable, and are growing more capable at a dizzying pace. They increasingly model some of what intelligence does: tracking what matters, processing time, responding to what they meet. Whether modeling these things is the same as having a stake in what happens, living through time, or being moved by what one encounters—are just some of the real (and still open) questions.

Vibrant Intelligence SPC is a place to explore questions about the nature of intelligence beyond and beside computation. We're a social purpose corporation founded on the premise that intelligence and computation are not in actuality the same, and that when you stop treating them as the same thing, something larger and more interesting comes into view. That distinction becomes critical when designing systems where humans and computational agents work together.

We convene scientists, technologists, educators, contemplatives, the seriously curious, basically anyone drawn to the question: what is intelligence (really)? Through gatherings, working sessions, creative projects, and open publications, we explore that question with rigor and creative practice, starting from philosophical foundations and growing with what the community discovers.
